ADHD Counselling in Bradford & West Yorkshire
Understanding Your Diagnosis
I came to this work both professionally and personally. I was diagnosed with dyslexia at 21 and ADHD at 41 — and I know from experience that a diagnosis at any age brings a complicated mix of relief, grief, confusion, and questions. Things start to make sense, but that can open up as many feelings as it resolves.
Working with clients who carry a late ADHD diagnosis, alongside my own journey, led me to develop a particular interest in this area. I identify as ADHD and dyslexic, and I understand what it's like to be figuring out who you are in light of that — at any age.
What brings people to this kind of counselling?
-
A recent adult ADHD diagnosis and not knowing what to do with it
-
Years of feeling different, misunderstood, or like you were failing — and now understanding why
-
Grief or anger about a late diagnosis — "why wasn't this picked up sooner?"
-
Relationships, work, and self-esteem affected by undiagnosed or newly diagnosed ADHD
-
Wanting space to reflect, not just strategies
How I Work
I am able to offer a space to speak and explore what your diagnosis means to you. We work to answer your questions, understand your story, and make peace with things you recognise from your past. We may also look at techniques and coping strategies in and amongst our sessions.
ADHD coaching is about making things function better going forward, with a real focus on techniques and coping strategies. ADHD counselling is about gaining understanding in a safe space.
Do I need a formal diagnosis?
No — many people come while they are in the process of seeking a diagnosis, or simply feel that ADHD resonates with their experience. You are welcome to get in touch at any stage.
Sessions In person at Merrydale House, Bradford (just off the M606), online via Google Meet, or by email. Sessions are 50 minutes. I offer a free 15-minute introduction call to see if we are a good fit.
