About

Working in private practice means there's no team to call on when risk is present in the room. This course is designed specifically for counsellors and therapists working independently — building informed, reflective confidence to work ethically and proportionately with suicidal ideation and risk. Across 10 self-paced sections you'll explore how to recognise risk, ask the difficult questions, work collaboratively on safety planning, document your reasoning, and look after yourself in the process. Practical and honest in approach — this is not a tick-box course. What's included: — 10 video sections with transcripts — Downloadable resources including a safety plan template, risk factors reference card, documentation checklist, supervision agenda, and more — Pause for reflection prompts at the end of each section — 20-question end of course quiz — Certificate of completion for your CPD records Suitable for newly qualified and experienced practitioners, trainees approaching independent practice, and counsellors in employed settings wanting to strengthen their approach to risk. Created by a BACP registered, NCPS accredited counsellor with almost two decades of NHS mental health experience.
