Email Counselling UK

Counselling that fits around your life, not the other way round

Not everyone can commit to a fixed hour, every week, at the same time. Work shifts, caring responsibilities, health conditions, anxiety about face-to-face conversations, or simply needing time to find the right words — there are lots of reasons a traditional session doesn't work for everyone. Email counselling is a different way in.

How it works

You write to me whenever it suits you — there's no need to arrange cover, book time off, or find a quiet room at a set hour. I read what you've written carefully, and respond with a considered, therapeutic reply within agreed 48 hours. It's a genuine counselling relationship, just conducted in writing rather than in a room.

                   Why people choose it

  • Time to think. Writing gives you space to say what you actually mean, without the pressure of an immediate spoken response.

  • Flexibility. No fixed weekly slot — write when you have the time and headspace.

  • A written record. You can look back on what you've said and how things have moved, session by session.

  • Lower barrier to starting. For some people, writing feels safer than speaking, especially early on.

  • Accessible from anywhere. No commute, no waiting room — just you and the page.

                       Is it right for you?

Email counselling works well for anxiety, low mood, reflection on relationships or life transitions, and ongoing support between other forms of therapy. It's not usually suitable for immediate crisis support — if you're in crisis, [link to your crisis/contact info] is a better place to start.
